Sightseeing Essentials

 sightseeingessentials

I have come to the end of the sightseeing city portion of my holiday- Milan, Verona and Florence (with pit stops in Sanremo, Lake Garda and Bologna) and thought I’d share a few items which kept me fresh in the unrelenting heat whilst snapping zillions of instagram worthy photos.

A good pair of sunglasses are essential, they cover up bare eyes and generally protect your eyes from the searing sun- squinty one eyed photo face is not a good look. They are also the perfect accessory with any look- this pair from Bottega Veneta lasted me pretty well, they are the perfect colour to go with pretty much anything, light on the face so they don’t give me a headache and suit my face shape. Sunglass Hut have a clever little thing on their website now whereby you can narrow down sunglasses based on your face shape- pretty cool!

Next up is a lip balm, lips get dried out quickly whilst wondering around and lipstick on top of dried lips is a big thumbs down. Fresh Sugar Lip Treatment SPF15 smells like lemonade and deeply nourishes the pout. On top I’ve been grabbing Revlon Kiss Me Coral a moisturising orange toned coral lipstick which really makes a look pop. A light powder to keep the t-zone matte is incredibly useful for a midday touch up, my trusty Chanel Les Beiges Healthy Glow Powder in N30 dusted on to my forehead and nose instantly de-shines and keeps my skin feeling fresh.

A good over the shoulder handbag is a no brainer, you need something light that you can sling across the body to house maps, phone, money and a lipstick! This little brown leather one is from a market in Marbella Spain a few years ago, you can find similar ones on ASOS or New Look though. A comfy pair of sandals will ensure you don’t get covered in blisters on your first day, this pair form River Island (still available) have served me well- adding a little glamour to any look. Other necessities include water and a camera and you’re set to take on any touristy activities!
