Beauty on the Beach

So day two of the holiday is going well, I have my go-to beach beauty look nailed. Women who wear full faces of maquillage baffle me as it quite literally melts off, best to go as simple as possible, especially as the SPF alone is stifling the skins ability to breathe, so you really don’t want anything on top of it!

The brilliant La Roche Posay Anthelios XL SPF50 which has a slight tint is my base and then a little Creme de La Mer concealer under my eyes and on any blemishes, I love using this one at the beach as it’s light reflective and has an SPF35 so the sensitive under eye area is also protected. I then add the smallest lick of mascara, I’m not a fan of waterproof so I use the normal New Look Diorshow mascara- but not nearly as much as I’d use on a regular day, just one coat to separate and slightly define the lashes. Next up I exfoliate my lips in the most basic way- a damp flannel rubbed in circular motions to rid them of any dry skin. A little lip balm like Fresh Sugar Lip Treatment with SPF15 and then once that’s soaked in I apply one coat of  Hourglass Opaque Rouge Liquid Lipstick in the shade Muse which defines my pout and adds a pop of colour, perfect for the beach.

I did a post yesterday on holiday hair, but one item that hasn’t left and will not leave my beach bag this Summer is the Mark Hill Cover Up Protection Spray. It was less than £10 from Boots, smells delicious and protects my previously bleached and then darkened hair from the suns harsh rays. I read on the plane in this months Allure (the only magazine I read cover to cover these days) that 100 hours in the sun (approx. 1 week of sunbathing on holiday) is equivalent to 30 minutes with full on bleach in your hair- scary! So I’ve been applying the spray as liberally and as often as suncream.

And that’s it- super simple, easy beach look, I’m back off to my Kindle now to get back to the hugely addictive Gone Girl which I’ve finally gotten around to reading- the perfect page-turner beach read.

Lots of love,

Tijan
