Flitting in between harsh winds and central heating not only play havoc with skins tendency to breakout and get horribly dry but it also diminishes skins luminosity. Whilst in the Summer months we’re all trying to stay as matte in possible when faced with searing heat, in the Winter months we want a little bit of that luminosity and glow back- without looking like an oil slick. Here’s my edit of my favourite products that will make you look as though you’ve slept for 9 hours, juice diet and as though you’re walking around with a permanent instagram filter (amaro obvs).
Vichy Idealia BB Cream*: The BB cream’s main aims are to illuminate using light reflecting pigments, hydrate, smooth wrinkles, refine skin texture and reduce the appearance of dark spots. Whilst I’m not particularly fussed about anti ageing just yet, this product really delivers in terms of a luminous dewy glow. I’d save this product for the dead of Winter though, because anyone with the slightest hint of oily or combination skin will find this a little too dewy and shiny. However, paired with a less glow inducing foundation it adds the perfect hint of winter glow and will keep skin looking fresh and hydrated.
Liz Earle Colour Light Reflecting Concealer*: I do love a good clicky concealer; they’re fun to use and work wonders at disguising any violet coloured shadows from one too many late nights. This one is amazing for leaving a luminous glow and also works beautifully to highlight cheekbones and browbones.
Collection 2000 Illuminating Touch Concealer: This product seriously brings it. And it is some gorgeous luminosity. For just £3.99 this concealer not only completely disguises dark shadows and bags, but also works beautifully to give the face a lift. I love to use this under each eye in a downwards triangle shape, I then colour the triangle in and blend upwards. It completely reflects the light leaving not just your under eyes but whole face glowing in a “I drink green juice every single day” kinda way. If there’s one thing you buy this week- make it this!
Bourjois Java Rice Powder*: The only powder to make its way onto this list, but for good reason. A little goes a long way, I love using the teeniest amount to highlight my cheekbones and add a truly beautiful Winter ethereal luminosity. It works especially well in photographs so is a must have on nights out when you want makeup to stay put, it also has an incredibly finely milled and subtle sheen and sparkle to it. A Christmas party must!
Kryolan Illusion Velvet*: I have a full post about this here. Lightly dabbed on eyelids, brow bones or cheekbones this leaves the most gorgeous golden glow that mimics that of a Victoria’s Secret angel. Use as a finishing touch to truly amp up the Winter glow!
