If I weren’t a Beauty Junkie…

Yesterday I got to thinking, what are the products that I’d recommend to non beauty lovers who just want results? What are the products that I would stick with if beautiful palettes, luxuriously encased lipsticks and intoxicatingly fresh and beautiful purifying serums weren’t my thang?

Here’s the low down:

Foundation, Chanel Vitalumiere Aqua Foundation or Bourjois Healthy Mix Serum Foundation: For an every day light to medium coverage that looks like good skin, with a touch of SPF protection and great longevity, either of these foundations would be perfect. You’ve got your higher end Chanel and your drugstore Bourjois, the Bourjois one is better for drier skin types and the Chanel for oilier. Simples.

Skin Saviour, Effaclar Duo +: If you’re suffering from severe acne, or simply get the odd blemish, using Effaclar Duo as either a serum (if you have dry/dehydrated skin type) or as a moisturiser (oily) will regulate your blemishes. I can’t believe I ever stopped using this stuff. It makes my skin sooo darn happy without drying it out. It’s simple and easy to get hold of and was one of the first proper skincare products I bought way back in times of old.

Eyeshadow, Maybelline 24 hr Colour Tattoo: Especially the shade On and On the Bronze. It blends perfectly, contours your eyes so you don’t have to and looks effortless once on. The wear time is around 10+ hours which makes it ideal for long days in the office.

Lips, No 7: No 7 just rock when it comes to lip products, amazingly creamy and long lasting liners? Check. Beautiful sheer lipsticks? You bet. Matte long lasting formulas? Check, check and check. The packaging may not be much to write home about but the excellent quality and long durability will sort out any/all of your lip conundrums. Heads up my faves are the liners in Nude & Melon and the matte lip crayon in Raspberry Wine.

Brows, Tom Ford Brow Sculptor: This is without a doubt the best eyebrow product I’ve ever used. You can control the amount perfectly with the angled tip of the wax and then brush them through for a natural finish with the spoolie on the other side. Pricy, but totally worth it, a key makeup investment for any non beauty lover.

I could go on and on, but these are jus the core basics. What I would recommend to anyone looking to have a basic beauty kit up and running before all the fancy pants extras get in the way. As little extras for concealer? NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer or if you have a bigger budget La Mer Radiant Concealer (totally worth it), mascara – Maybelline the Falsies or Chanel Inimitable Intense. Cheeks? Max Factor or Bourjois Cream blushes.

Wow, you’ve really worn down that colour tattoo! I love that one, I’ve recommended it to 3 friends who all love it – no brushes required!
