Fresh and Polished- Face of the Day

Whenever I watch ‘Keeping up with the Kardashians’ or ‘Kim and Kourtney take Miami’ I always end up piling way more make up on that usual the following day. There’s just something about all that perfectly contoured bronzer, lip gloss and flawless finish which makes me want to delve into my make up bag right there and then.

I was never one for contouring until last Summer when I bought a NARS bronzer in the shade ‘Casino’ in Space NK alongside a contour brush and finally got to grips with it and I was addicted- enhanced cheekbones without looking overly Essex-ed. As it’s still deadly cold and my skin hasn’t seen any vitamin D in what feels like forever,  Casino looks ridiculous on me at this moment in time. It makes me look streaky and like a total make-up amateur, however, my mum also bought a NARS bronzer at the same time and she purchased the shade Laguna (as she’s a fair few shades lighter than me) a favourite amongst beauty bloggers, make up artists and celebrities alike for it’s warm undertones and total lack of shimmer (winner). Like me, she is also finding her skin to be a bit paler than usual so isn’t using her bronzer either, so lucky for me I can use her Laguna until it warms up again. Best of both worlds! Today’s look was all about channeling a sophisticated Kardashian look, part contoured cheekbones, part subtle eye (I used Rimmel Scandaleyes Shadow Sticks in Bulletproof Beige and Bad Girl Bronze) and part full on lip gloss. I’ve had Soap & Glory’s Extreme Sexy Mother Pucker for a few years now and it stills packs a mightly tingly punch in plumping up my pout which I adore, however it’s definitely one to wear if you’re spending the majority of time indoors because it is as sticky as superglue and your hair will not appreciate it!

For my base I used Chanel Aqua Vitalumiere foundation to create an airbrushed and warm finish, I love this foundation as it’s light enough to still see a little skin through (ie not a mask) but it still smooths over all of my pigmentation, I added a little of Kevyn Aucoin’s sensual skin enhancer on the areas that needed a little more coverage and put on my favourite radiant under eye concealer by Creme De La Mer in the shade dark. I brushed my brows through using my absolute new favourite- Hourglass Sculpted Arch Brow Pencil and added my usual Rimmel Liquid eyeliner and a few coats of MAC’s opulash mascara on top and bottom. I also added a little bit of Chanel Sienna blusher to my cheeks as well as Laguna. I dusted off the whole look with my new Rimmel Stay Matte powder which really controls shine and sets the make up perfectly.

Lastly under the Soap and Glory lipgloss is a Mavala lipstick in Sensual Pink. It’s one of my favourite ever lipsticks which I picked up this time last year in a Paris pharmacy, it’s creamy, long lasting in the most flattering shade of pink that seems to work really well with my colouring.

This make up is ideal for a casual dinner or for every day wear, I would say that if you’re going to go for something similar in the evening, perhaps smudging a little more Shadow stick under your water and lash line to really frame the eyes.

So I’m well aware that when anyone dubs anything as ‘Kardashian esq’ it creates a divided opinion, but I assure you this look is all the glamour, soft edges, sharp cheekbones, dewy skin without going overboard.

I’m filming my first YouTube video this week which will be a sort of favourites of the last few months- products I can’t live without from skincare to hair oils so stay tuned for that early next week, nervous but excited!
