Ah La Roche-Posay- beautiful skin care products but perhaps the most confusing website ever. Pair that with it only being stocked in Boots and other pharmacies without the pushy but sometimes necessary sales assistants who can reel of facts as to why their product will work for you results in a rather brain taxing shopping experience. This has meant that I have spent more than one occasion trying to decipher the Effaclar line- do I need K?AI?Duo?M? All of the above?
My skin could definitely be classified as combination, with my t-zone being the main area for breakouts. A MAC makeup artist told me about Effaclar Duo about a year ago and said it was a fantastic primer as well as a lifesaver for clearing up any skin imperfections, so sure enough off to Boots I trotted only to find a product that looked as though it were designed for sufferers of severe acne. Surely this would dry out my skin? Surely I didn’t need anything that potent? So I went home empty handed.
My skin goes through phases, more often than not it’s not 100% perfect and a few weeks ago whilst reading Ruth Crilly of A Model Recommends review of the ‘wonder’ product I bit the bullet and decided to give it a try. After all I was suffering from a particularly bad skin week.
I’ve been using Effaclar Duo for just over a week now- day and night as a moisturiser after my Hydraluron serum. It blends out perfectly covering the whole face with just a pea sized amount. The smell is citrussy however dissipates pretty quickly. I have to say my skin is looking clearer than ever- my t-zone is non oily and my skin hasn’t been dried out! Result! I’ll be continuing to use this for a while and see how it fares, but so far so good- no new spots!
