Winter in Stockholm- Acne presentation

Last night I was lucky enough to be invited along to a small presentation of Acne’s pre-fall 2013 and main fall 2013 line at the Dover Street Arts Club.

The atmosphere was intimate and the clothes were- as per usual achingly hip..but what really caught my eye (obviously!) was the maquillage the models were sporting. The CEO of Acne was present and I quickly grabbed him for a few questions. When describing what the typical Acne man and woman would be, he struggled to find the words “androgynous?” I offered, he agreed noting that Acne clothes can be made as feminine or as masculine as the wearer wants. When looking at the makeup for the show I noticed that the models inner lip were tinged a very subtle blue- why was this? To emulate the Winter chill of Sweden. Genius! The lips were created by using two lipsticks, a very nude and then a slightly lilac-y/blue. The makeup had to work for both the pre and main lines as the presentation was only an hour long, they couldn’t do two whole separate hair and makeup looks. So the eyes were a little more paired down than we’re used to seeing on the runway, a sort of soft smudgey under eye with barely there mascara and a bare lid. The base was left luminous and pale, again to portray that Stockholm in the Winter vibe. All in all, pretty cool don’t you think?

The clothes were stunning, focussing heavily on layering and uneven hem lines. The new range of clutch bags are on my wish list- made out of Mother of Pearl (making them pricey!) they open like a jewellery box with a mirror inside, so multi-usage as both a clutch and storage…bargain? No not really, but beautiful nonetheless.

This leopard print look was my favourite by far- it was chic and I could see myself wearing the jacket with a pair of skinny jeans and ballet pumps.

All in all it was a really enjoyable afternoon/evening!
