Winter Evenings

I find Winter evenings are a fine balancing act between looking glamorous and staying as darned warm and cosy as possible. If you’re just going out for a drink or for dinner with friends here are my fail safe items for the next few icy months ;

Leggings – cosier than jeans, and actually quite chic. No I’m not talking about the Primark super cosy ones, think instead ribbed Wolfords or leather look H&M. I’m rediscovering my old American Apparel black shiny ‘disco pants’ and wow do they look cool with an oversized sweater and biker boots.

Layers – the chicest way to stay warm is by layering, think thin American Vintage vests (H&M do great cheaper alternatives), long sleeved tops and then a chunkier knit on top.

Faux Fur – a little faux fur instantly takes an outfit up a notch in the glamour stakes, try a fur stole from Miss Selfridge to liven up an evenings get up whilst still staying toasty.

BEAUTY

Now Winter evening beauty is an odd one – anyone else notice an incredibly shiny t zone come 4pm? All of that central heating is playing havoc with our complexions so here are my fail safe winter evening beauty items;

Powder – nothing too heavy, just a little dusting around the t zone, I of course opt for Chanel Les Beiges Healthy Glow.

Brown Eyeshadow – I love MAC for creating some of the best flat brown matte shadows around, smudge on the lid and then take down under the lash line for a real ‘lived in’ chic look.

Eyeliner – The ultimate beauty staple for an evening out is of course lashings of the stuff. I adore Charlotte Tilbury Rock’n’Kohl Liquid Pencil in Barbarella Brown.

Gloss – A little gloss goes a long way, seeing as it’s Winter and no one has time for the whole wind stuck on gloss thang, opt for something like Soap and Glory Sexy Mother Pucker 3D Gloss Sticks. All the gloss, none of the stick.
