I’m sure all women, beauty junkies or not, can relate to this seasonal problem. You’ve got an evening out planned- say a 7:30pm dinner followed by some drinks and then maybe followed by some dancing, you start getting ready at 6ish and get to work on a hardcore smokey eye, you leave to go for your dinner only to leave your front door and be faced with unrelenting sunlight/daylight. Your smokey eye looks all wrong, your foundation too heavy and you’re left feeling a little silly. This is the common midsummer problem, as it doesn’t get anywhere near dusky until after 9pm, those early dinners or post work drinks call for something a little more paired down than your usual Autumnal full on smokey eye and heavy foundation look. Last night I went for dinner with a few other beauty bloggers followed by an event, I left home at 5pm though- which meant that I needed something a little lighter but also distinctive enough as ‘night’ make up. Here is a little peak into my make up bag which I took out with me…
I kept my base light with No 7 foundation (full review coming soon- I’m totally in love) and La Mer concealer, a few sweeps of Daniel Sandler’s watercolour blush in Charm gave me a wonderful dewy glow and when paired with just a smudge of L’Oreal Infallible eyeshadow in Eternal Black and a little bit of Soap & Glory’s Sexy motherpucker glossstick 3D volume lipshine in Nudist and I had a sultry yet dewy and fresh evening look. A few sweeps of my favourite Chanel Les Beiges Healthy Glow Powder in N30 on my t-zone and I was ready for the tube/selfrdiges/dinner/blogger event followed by….well not exactly cocktails and dancing we ended up at the Haagen-Dazs in Leicester Square, but that still counts right?
