The Capsule Edit

I always strive to make my wardrobe as capsule and compact as possible. There’s nothing chicer than a girl who only owns a few key pieces but can make them work in a multitude of ways. I’m a borderline hoarder so capsule editing has never come naturally to me, yet still time after time I do attempt to daydream up what my ideal minimalistic wardrobe would entail.

For me a pair of over the knee boots are an absolute essential, they make an outfit go from drab to super glam in the nanosecond it takes to wriggle into them. I’ve had my Stuart Weitzman pair for nearly two years now and they’ve seen me through many a lunch meeting and evening out, I’ve even been out dancing in them. They have the ability to both dress up and down an outfit unlike any other pair of shoes I own – they’re a key player in my wardrobe and would most definitely make the cut.

A great pair of black jeans are an absolute staple. I’ve been living in my black Topshop Leighs for five years now. For me the skinny leg and elasticated waist hugs my figure perfectly and leaves my curves feeling loved and not at all strained. The key is to buy a new pair every two years or so to ensure that they keep their blackness – faded black jeans aren’t as chic.

The perfect grey t-shirt is a perennial style favourite. For me the key in a good one is neckline and material – grey marl can look impossibly chic when worn with my next style staple….

The biker jacket! I’ve been rocking a shrunken biker since ’06 when I picked one up in a vintage store off Brick Lane. To me it’s a serious wardrobe pillar – it can make a cocktail dress look edgy and looks fantastic with a pair of skinny jeans and boots.

Similarly a chic chunky knit in a neutral tone, an amazing investment piece like a handbag (think classic not trend driven – Celine & Chanel have withstood the test of time) and a super sexy LBD to take you from dinner to dancing should always be a staple in your wardrobe.
