Staying Fabulous in Winter

As Winter is just around the corner I thought I’d share with you some of my favourite tips for staying as glowing and groomed as possible in the dreaded dark/dank and frosty months (FYI my Russian teacher says that London Winters are more gruelling than Siberian ones due to the dampness of the cold here – brrr).

Keeping hair looking good is no mean feat, I find that if I don’t wash and blow dry my hair daily that my roots become slick with grease and my ends frazzled and parched – not chic. I like to keep a hair oil near by, my latest discovery is newly launched from La Mer and can be used as a facial oil and any excess can be applied to the ends of the hair – one bird two stones etc. I’ll do a full product review in the coming weeks so stay tuned. Similarly I like to keep a mini bottle of dry shampoo on hand to add volume and keep any greasiness at bay.

A good highlight and contour is essential for day to day in the colder months when you have your face on. It sculpts the face perfectly adding warmth and dimension to an otherwise sallow complexion. In the Summer it can look quite tacky to wear either in the day but in the Winter its like an instagram filter for the face. I like to use the Burberry contour pen in dark and The Balm Mary Lou Manizer for a kick of highlight on my cheekbones and bridge of my nose.

Keeping hands moisturised is key at this time of year. The ultimate trick is to apply a moisturiser (my favourite is  hand cream) just before slipping a pair of gloves on (Muji touch screen ones are the ultimate) meaning that by the time you get around to taking them off after your walk/commute your hands are buttery soft but not at all greasy – dreamy.

What are some of your Winter tips and tricks? Needless to say weekly exfoliation is still key and a lovely dollop of body butter and lotion daily keeps any scaly elbows and knees at bay too!
