So if you follow me on Instagram you will have seen that I made a new bag purchase last week. This wasn’t a random purchase, it was actually the result of a little experiment. Now as you know bloggers have somewhat of a reputation for not just receiving a lot of free stuff, but also for buying a lot. As we are always shooting new outfits and trying out new products shopping is pretty much par for the course. I could easily head into Zara multiple times a week and pick up a top here or a pair of shoes there. Around 6 weeks ago I realised that this spending and hoarding of all this stuff was making me a feel a little unwell. The constant desire to shop, even if the items were inexpensive didn’t give me quite the same buzz. Similarly I can’t watch haul videos at the moment either, I don’t know if it’s me growing up or just feeling overwhelmed, but I’m just over stuff. I decided that I was going on a spending ban of random stuff and instead would put the money I would have spent on random beauty crap, random manicures or Zara/H&M/Forever 21/Topshop hauls towards one new significant purchase.
So, I bought the Saint Laurent Camera bag, my target date for buying it was 1st July, but I read online that they were selling out fast, I managed to snag the last one in the UK (in black) and I’m so happy I did. Not buying a new Summer dress from Zara, or a few new camis in Forever 21 has meant that I need to dive into what I already own and re-style pieces. It has put my styling skills to the test and I love the results. I feel like instead of just wearing the newest items I’m being more creative and isn’t that what style is?
This outfit comprises of a Zara TRF skirt purchased circa 2009/10 with this Topshop knit which I bought in 2012, Forever 21 sunnies and Celine bag (again a 2012 purchase).
What do you think? Oh and by the way the shoes are totally not allowed in this outfit as they’re a brand spanking new gift from Public Desire – oops!

Love that bag! It’s so classic and really suits your style.
I have been having similar feelings and I have found myself selling a lot of the items I definitely don’t use yet still justify hoarding away. The YSL camera bag is beyond stunning, I adore it!

You are so on point with this article!!! I wish more bloggers would rewear things and talk about restyling things. Not everyone has the ability or even desire to go out and buy new clothing all the time. Plus it makes shopping waaaay more fun when you do it sparingly and as treat ;p
I need to shop my own wardrobe more! There are so many nice old gems floating around my wardrobe. Love your new bag! xx
Love this outfit and the reason bend it. I love that little YSL bag i actually nearly picked it up a while back and I’m so disappointed i didn’t now because its sold out everywhere! Oh well you live and you learn.
Those public desire heels are dreamy too!

I’m excited to see your outfits that you come up with! This combo is so cute 🙂
I understand the feeling unwell about it…there are just too many items that are tempting and sometimes I just need to say enough. I end up taking a rainy day and make outfits for a few weeks…helps me shop my closet :)..btw love the look of your blog!
I hate feeling like I need to keep up with trends most of which make me feel like I’m following the crowds not looking myself. Re-styling pieces I have makes you feel confident while saving you money for those bigger pieces you want x

Aaah I love your new little baby, just found you through your Youtube video on your bag collection. I am just looking trough so many bag collections right now, because I am saving up money for a Chloé right now and that kind of motivates me, haha !:D Even though I ordered online from Zara a few days ago, oopsie, but I also decided to stay away from our Zara store and the online shop from now on and only spend a tiny little budget per month on stuff like clothes or something like that, I am trying to spend nothing but I don’t want to put myself under too much pressure! 😀 So hopefully I will be able to welcome my Chloé baby soon.
Keep up your brilliant posts (btw. I LOVE your Instagram, the pictures just look all so super great and vibrant but still not to overwhelming colourful or stuff like that)
Best wishes from Germany
