Skincare Spotlight: Skinceuticals Phyto Corrective

Two weeks ago, myself and some other fellow beauty bloggers were invited down to the SK:N clinic in Holborn for an evening focussed on skincare brand Skinceuticals. Skinceuticals isn’t your regular run of the mill skincare brand with rose petals and pretty packaging- it’s a cult brand that promises results, and delivers them promptly. They promise to “provide advanced skincare backed by science”- and with celebrity fans spanning from movie stars to supermodels who are all hooked on the products, I can see that that promise has well and truly been kept.

On the evening of the event I was given three products to try out the Retexturing Activator, Ultra Facial Defence SPF 50+ and the Serum 10 Antioxidant- however the product that I was particularly keen on trying wasn’t available on the night, and so was very kindly sent to me a few days later. I have tried the other three products, but I’ve been going through a pretty bad time with my skin as of late, due to a reaction to the milk, so I’ve been only using gentle products on my skin. Therefore I’ve put the aforementioned three products on pause for a little bit whilst I get my skin back to normal. However, the Phyto Corrective – hydrating, soothing fluid for irritated or sensitive skin* targets both blemishes and dehydration. It contains anti-inflammatory cucumber and anti-bacterial thyme to soothe and calm irritated skin- something which is ideal for my current skin situation. Due to realising that my skin flare up is a reaction and not mere acne, I don’t want to go in there with guns blazing using products which are too harsh for my skin, which is why the gentler and hydrating Phyto Corrective has worked so well. It is gentle yet effective at reducing bacteria, minimising soreness and redness, hydrating my skin without any greasy film and leaving the general tone of the skin radiant and supple. It can be used as a serum sandwiched in between your cleanser, toner and moisturiser (in my case facial oil) or in the warmer months it can be used on it’s own to moisturise the skin without leaving any excess shine or grease.

For those of you who suffer from the odd breakout and who need that extra push of hydration (especially in the colder months) I couldn’t recommend this product enough. My skin laps it up, the scent is also strangely addictive, a little like fragrant freshly cut grass. My only two problems with the product are the size of the bottle (I’d like one three times the size) and the price. Despite the bottle saying to use 4-6 drops morning and night in between your cleansing and moisturising stages, I tend to use 6 drops as opposed to the minimal 4, due to loving the texture and feel of the product so much. The price is also incredibly steep- £50 for 30ml , however, when you see results, it is worth it. Like with all skinceuticals products and testimonials, the price of the product may be a little higher than other brands, but in the long run you save money on dermatologists, facials etc. I couldn’t be more of a skinceuticals fan if I tried- I now have my eye on their Blemish & Age cleansing gel! Keep your eyes peeled.
