Rimmel Scandaleyes Eye Shadow Sticks- The Review

rimmel- scandal eyes shadow sticks

I’ve made no secret of my obsession with a budget beauty buy- there’s something about the thrill of a cheap yet quality product which gets me all excited, and at times a leeeeetle obsessive. The second I hear of a new innovative (and more often than not dupe of a faaar more expensive product) release from Rimmel, Revlon, Maybelline or L’Oreal I put on my running shoes to race down to boots (quite literally race…sometimes just before a lecture, so what if I’m 5 minutes late I got a new Barry M Gelly nail polish..).

So it was recently that I discovered the Rimmel Scandal Eyes Shadow sticks and a new obsession was born. I love anything in crayon form- Chubby sticks, Urban Decay shadow sticks, Revlon’s dupe of chubby sticks so I absolutely had to find these highly pigmented, cheap as chips and smoky eye necessity ASAP. Due to business and the usual work/university/socialising commitments three whole days passed and my eyes were bereft of these beauties, that was until Saturday when I finally made the Boots trip and purchased two- Blackmail and Bad Girl Bronze.

We were meant to go out for dinner on the Saturday evening and I was saving the scandal eyes shadow sticks for replicating Tanya Burr’s Mila Kunis tutorial, however my boyfriend came down with a migraine so we ended up ordering a Nando’s and listening to the Book of Mormon soundtrack instead and my eyes remained bare…

That meant that I had to wait until Sunday to try them out, and seeing as it was a Sunday I didn’t want to go too overboard so I literally just smudged them all over the place- easy peasy. Smudged a little bronze over the entire lid and a little of the blackmail around the edges to make a subtle smoky/slept in look. I used the bronze under the waterline for definition and then just coated my usual MAC opulash mascara on to complete the look- the trick was to leave out the liquid line in order to achieve an undone, and I think more Clemence Poesy than Cheryl Cole finish. The result? A chilled out smoky eye perfect for a Sunday , not too overboard, not too put together but definitely enticing. I love the consistency and highly recommend picking one or two up on your next Boots trip. I’m after bulletproof beige next!

At only £5.99 these are a guilt free treat that really delivers and are amazing to blend.
