Pre & Post Gym Skincare

I hate putting on and taking off makeup, and I hate the idea of wearing makeup to the gym so I was always put off by not really knowing what to do with my skin pre and post workout. I’ve finally got my act together and now have a pre-set routine for pre and post gym sessions so I thought I would share!

Morning Workout: If I’m working out first thing in the morning I’ll just as I am, maybe a quick swipe of Serozinc over my face on a cotton disc and a small amount of La Roche Posay Toleriane moisturiser but otherwise no skincare routine, just a bare face. Then post gym I’ll start my usual morning routine.

Evening/ Lunch time Workout: If I have a full face of makeup on I’ll carefully take off everything but my eyebrows, eye makeup and under eye concealer so at least I still look a little nice but no skin is suffocated. I’ll use a Simple face wipe to take my makeup off and then pop on a little Toleriane Ulta moisturiser, if I don’t have any Simple face wipes then I’ll use a micellar water but I much prefer the ease and speed of a good face wipe. Wipes have a bad rep in the beauty world, but if you’re using them in moderation and not as your sole cleanser I don’t think there’s any harm! Then when I get home I’ll take my eye makeup off and cleanse properly using my usual routine.

Swimming: If I’m swimming I’ll take off everything using a Simple face wipe and then dot on a teeny amount of moisturiser (the usual) and then do a full on cleanse as soon as I’m out of the pool to ensure my skin doesn’t get dry. I like to use a flannel to ensure my skin is super clean post swim too!

That’s about as deep as it gets, if I’m going through a spotty period then after I’ve taken my makeup off in any instance before I head to the gym I’ll dab a teeny amount of Makeup Forever Full Cover concealer on my spots as it’s non comedogenic and waterproof so wont go all gross!

    This is a really similar routine to what I do, except I never can work out over lunch 🙂 Full cleanse right away after is so important to get all the sweat off.
