One Year On…Part I

This time last year was without a doubt the most amazing few weeks of my life. I was surrounded by all of my favourite people, everyone was full of excitement and not a day went by without doing something for the wedding. The actual wedding anniversary isn’t for another 3 weeks, but this time last year were the last stages of the run up and planning.

There were dance rehearsals where all of our friends were in one room (including friends from all over the world!), manicures and coffees spent frantically emailing wedding planners and florists and epic makeup trials that took place in my parents’ kitchen with one of my best friends Jackie. All in all it was incredible, not to mention all of the highs and lows (hysterical laughter followed by hysterical tears after being stuck in traffic and missing my own church rehearsal) and I’ll be doing another post about the actual wedding (once again) and one year on, but this is rewinding back to those final weeks of preparation and why I’ve been inspired to pretend like I’m getting married all over again.

I gave up sugar and wheat (and I’d given up dairy 100% about 10 months before) 10 days before the wedding, and I know I’ve mentioned it a few times before but when I look back at videos and photographs I’ve been inspired to do it all over again, my complexion just glowed from within, and even though I did have one small breakout on the day (I put that down to nerves/excitement) my skin was a dream. My Environ skincare regimen was also vital, as were trips to see Joanne Evans – the most incredible aesthetician. I haven’t been able to justify the cost of facials since the wedding, but I may treat myself to twice yearly visits to her from now on, as nothing and no one can make my skin so clear and supple.

The photos above were taken on my final hair and makeup trials and I’ve decided to film my wedding day makeup in detail so that I can finally talk through each step, so stay tuned! For now though I’ll be enjoying one last day of eating all of the gluten and sugar I can get my hands on and then going cold turkey. My top tip to anyone else who’s interested in also giving up sugar and gluten/wheat is to start off by just cutting out refined sugar, and so therefore you can still indulge in carbs such as rice and rice noodles!
