No More Moisturiser?

Optimized-goodbyemoisturiserI first tried the Skinceuticals Phyto Corrective Gel over four years ago and instantly my skin become more hydrated, clearer and calmer. I used it solidly for around two years, and then came the world of blogging and being sent new products left right and centre. Phyto corrective was  pricy so I decided to stop repurchasing it and I started trying all sorts of new lotions and potions. That’s where I think I went wrong with my skin.

Fast forward to present day and I’ve once again been reunited with my skincare love and I’ve ditched moisturiser. The phyto corrective is so hydrating that there’s really no need for another layer. Similarly, before I was reunited I was solely using Blue Orchid Hydrating Oil at night and it was working wonders. Not using moisturiser on your skin AM and PM is actually ok and it’s far more common than you think. My skin is feeling more hydrated, supple and softer since ditching the creamy moisturisers, not to mention over all less greasy and prone to the post 3pm forehead shine fest.

Would you be tempted to ditch your facial moisturiser?

    Hi Tijan!
Actually, it makes sense to use oils instead of moisturiser according to a video I’ve seen made by a skincare specialist. In his video called “what the skin really needs”, he explained that with the way the skin is layered, putting on moisturiser is not efficient to hydrate it. To up the water contents, you need to drink more water and to keep the water in your skin you need to use oils on your face. It’s in french but quite interesting if you want to watch it (especially the diagram he made) :https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XS-cdo74gGU&list=UUbeMikaJ3kfz_EmjzFeBHRg
I use the Clarins Blue orchid oil and my skin is always at its best the following morning. Now, I’m on the lookout for a morning oil that’s hydrating but not greasy.
    Have a nice day!
