As my boyfriend and I were off to a conference in Suffolk for the next few days where he was speaking on a technology panel we’d planned a very chilled Saturday which mainly consisted of (for me) watching Lisa Eldridge and Wendy Rowe make up tutorials (for him) blogging, doing emails and other work related things, drinking copious amounts of green tea and avidly watching the last few episodes of House of Cards (OMGOMG), however, as the sun made a belated appearance we decided to wonder out to our local newsagent, boots and M&S to get a few bits and bobs for our trip. Whilst in the newsagent (it’s on Brompton Road and is where I buy Allure- I get asked constantly on Instagram for where to buy it in UK, this and Selfridges magazine department are the only places I’ve noticed that stock it!) I stocked up on the latest Elle, Company and Cosmopolitan. I don’t usually read Cosmopolitan but they had really good freebies with their April issue- Elemis skincare! I decided to go for the Skin Clear Mattifying Moisturiser as I’m on the prowl for a new day cream as luck would have it.
I’ve only been using it for a few days- but it’s the perfect base for makeup, my skin is still as matt (yet still dewy) at 4pm as it was at 8am- serious result. I’ve found other mattifying moisturisers to be too drying and not hydrating enough for my combination skin, however this seems to really work. After a few days of a carb heavy and caffeine fuelled diet paired with shockingly early mornings, jam packed days and late evenings my skin is still looking in pretty good condition, no breakouts (crossing my fingers and toes), hydrated and not sallow looking- although that’s probably thanks to Chantecaille’s Just Skin tinted moisturiser (HG product) . So if you get a chance pop into your local newsagent and try out a product from the Elemis fresh skin range as they seem to work quite well, not just for a freebie but as a worthy skin care routine addition.
