Clarins have revamped their Joli Rouge lipstick collection which now has 25 shades of pure luxuriously nourishing sheer lip colours. When I received them in the post (with some gorgeous lip biscuits) I could barely contain my excitement. Whilst for the past year I’ve been 100% a matt lip girl these could tempt me to go for a sheer semi-glossy finish once in a while – the formula feels so hydrating and natural on the lips, it gives a nice break from my liner and matt lipstick.
Although the lipsticks came with a few (gorgeously creamy) liners, I’d say that the beauty of these is that you don’t need to faff with liner. For me, the ease of a sheer lipstick is just being able to swipe it on without the need for a mirror. These are ideal if you’re rushing around all day and need to reapply on the go, or if you’re at school or university and want a wash of colour without looking too Kylie Jenner.
They are lightly scented, which I don’t love, the scent is a quite girly and perfumed but that quickly dissipates once you’ve applied them.
With so many beautiful shades I’m bound to go through phases but I’ve swatched my three current favourites:
Top – Soft Plum, a lilac hued nude that flatters warm and olive skin tones, Tea Rose – a cool toned nude that would suit any skin tone, perfect for a natural nude Brigitte Bardot-esque look and Pink Ginger – a punchy warm darker nude that looks amazing with both a natural or full on makeup look for more of a defined but still natural look.
Tea Rose – for that Serena Van Der Woodsen natural cool girl lip.
Soft Plum – amazing when paired with bold brows, minimal eye makeup and a chunky knit, ripped denim and black boots.
Pink Ginger – every day dark nude for pink lovers who don’t want to look too girly.
