Handbag Essentials

When rushing out the house every day I go through a mental checklist to make sure I have everything. There are always a few items which I forget- not  so much due to forgetfulness, but because I fail to recognise their crucial role in day to day life.

You’ve got the obvious items- keys, phone, money, oyster card.

Then the not so obvious- business cards (you never know who you may meet, those girls in Superdrug asking for your opinion on hair colour for example could be potential new readers!) and a notebook. I’ve failed to bring a notebook on more than one occasion, and I have to say- nothing beats hand written notes, especially when wanting to write quickly. Laptops are great, but iphones and ipads are a lot slower to pad away at. Always be prepared- you never know when a meeting will turn juicy, or even when inspiration hits for you!

The crucial makeup tools, I always think about what the first parts of my makeup to dissipate, and then take back up. Obviously you need a couple of lip options just in case your mood changes throughout the day, a heavy duty concealer for any random blemishes that could pop up rudely uninvited, and then you need the under eye brightener/illuminator to make your post 3pm bags vanish. Lastly, when afternoon hits it’s highly likely that you’ll start to look a little sallow, a bright pop of cream blusher like this Liz Earle one in Nectar will brighten you right up!

All of these essentials can fit into pretty much any sized handbag- it’s all about packing correctly! When my bag is properly packed I feel equipped for anything the day may throw at me- how do boys manage on just pockets alone!?!
