Getting ready for a night in Wonderland

Yesterday evening I went to a charity ball in aid of Great Ormond Street Children’s Hospital hosted by the Reuben Foundation. The theme was Alice in Wonderland and it was one of the most amazingly decorated events I think I’ve ever been to. Rewind a few hours earlier and this is how I got ready…

I went to the Pamper Grotto in the St Martin’s Lane Hotel, as well as being a lovely Christmas blogger event they were also offering hair styling and manicures- I jumped at the opportunity to get professionally dolled up and had my hair done by the lovely Katie at Charles Worthington*. She tonged my hair in sections before spraying, backcombing and adding rootlift backcombing powder to give my hair volume and staying power, she then pinned the curls. I was left with luscious Victoria’s Secret esque waves, and my journey home on the tube only made the style more tousled and sexy- nothing too done. For my nails the lovely lady from Sanctuary Spa Covent Garden gave me a Jessica manicure* in the glitzy and festive shade Palladium. When I got home I hardly had any work to do myself- a little bit of moisturising with my Victoria’s Secret Body Butter and I got to work on my makeup. I used my trusty Chanel Vitalumiere Aqua as my base before doing a subtle smokey eye with this gorgeous L’Oreal palette in Vision Noir. The main attraction of my makeup was going to be my lips, and I used my favourite red- Daniel Sandler Marilyn* for a bright pop of orange toned red. This lipstick has magical lasting power and dries to a gorgeous matte finish, needless to say I didn’t need many touch ups throughout the evening.

I chose this gorgeous floor length dress from Almost Famous* which felt incredibly glamorous- it was also surprisingly comfortable!  A few added accessories- a vintage clutch bag and my faithful Christian Louboutin heels and I was ready. My hair and makeup lasted all evening and I had a wonderful time for a truly amazing cause.
