Clarins Instant Light Complexion Perfector- The Review

As you can probably tell, I’m a massive fan of anything that promises that glow factor. Powders, blush, foundations, tinted moisturisers- you name it, if it promises a bit of glow, I’m there.

The Clarins Instant Light Complexion Perfector had been on my radar for a while, and I even managed to blag a 5ml sample from a Clarins counter and tried it out. On its own this light diffusing almost tinted moistruiser but lighter consistency did absolutely nothing for me. However….layer a foundation/tinted moisturiser of choice over and ta dah, your cheek bones gleam and you have a sort of light from within effect? Right? Or was I just tricking myself into liking a hyped up product?

I ended up buying it in Sephora in Paris as it worked out as a few £££ cheaper so thought “why not!?” let’s go for it. Now as much as I’d been impressed with the sample (I think we’re always quite impressed with free stuff, am I right?) it just didn’t seem to do it for me back home. I have the shade 002 Champagne Shimmer which works really well with my skin tone, but it just seems to sit in a ‘satiny matte’ way on my skin, and doesn’t really seem to be brining the ‘glow/dew’ factor 🙁 I will say that it does photograph really well though. It sort of evens out your skin tone and adds a flawless finish, which I can imagine would be great on those with oilier skin or in sunnier climes.

So not really the glow-inducing miracle worker I initially thought it to be…but something a little more functional. Definitely best wore under a layer of makeup to get top results. I doubt I’ll be re-purchasing this, but I’m going to continue to wear it to try and find a purpose for it. I’ve tried mixing it with Bourjois Healthy Mix Serum Foundation on occasion and it did look lovely- but not dramatically different to how the Bourjois usually looks on me…so a little meh?!

Have a lovely Sunday all!
