NO FILTER OR EDITING

Most new foundations make grandiose claims of shrinking pores, being both luminous yet matt, having incredibly lasting power, feeling comfortable on the skin and yadda yadda yadda, very few actually deliver in my opinion, and most end up cakey, too heavy in the wrong places and too slippery where I actually neeed it. So when I first heard mutterings of the Too Faced Born This Way foundation I was intrigued yet careful not to raise my expectations too much.

After some deliberation, I chose the shade Sand, whilst a touch on the pale side for my current tanned state, the yellow undertones suit my skin perfectly, and it’s a pretty close match for my Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk in 6.5 (which is one of my best foundation colour matches of all time).

The bottle is heavy and a tad unnecessary (and also seems to have been inspired by GALS) however after a pump and a half I slathered it straight onto my skin – no brushes needed – and I was instantly wowed. It swept over all of my blemish and pigmentation marks to the point where I barely needed any extra concealer on those parts (unheard of with other foundations), yet just skimmed the parts of my skin that are ok-ish and just gave it a luminosity without any hint of grease. I even forgot to add my powder, it was that non greasy! The wear time is pretty good, I can put it on in the morning and it still comes off with my Body Shop chamomile cleansing oil in the evening (other foundations have usually long gone) and it’s fragrance free so does not upset my sensitive skin. I’d go so far as to say that this would have been a far better bridal foundation for me than GALS which is a little too greasy around the t-zone for me and requires copious amounts of mattifying powder. It truly gave me the ‘Kardashian airbrushed/ MakeupbyMario’ effect that I’ve long craved, without looking like a mask of makeup.

For every day I’m hesitant as it is SPF free, and I personally prefer a small dollop of my Tarte Amazonian Clay for day to day, but for special occasions and evenings out I’m looking no further!

I keep hearing musings about how great this foundation is, and it absolutely does show well in photographs! For some reason, my mind has something against Too Faced..no idea why, but short of the Better than Sex mascara I haven’t been blown away by anything from them. Definitely going to pick a sample of this up at Sephora to try it out 🙂

I know what you mean, the packaging maybe? For years I didn’t try any of their products. The foundation is a real gem though!
