So I’m going to do 3 categories spaced out over the next week so as not to overwhelm with one massive 2013 favourites. I will be starting with skincare, then moving on to hair products and finishing with an epic makeup post.
Let’s get things started! 2013 has been a really odd year for my skin, the first 8 months of the year were possibly the best months of my life in terms of amazing skin. I’ve never had a better complexion and then boom September 2013 things took a real turn for the worse and I’ve been trying to salvage it ever since.
The products that really stood out for me were the Clarins Exfoliating Toner, this made my skin glow without aggravating it like other exfoliating toners, it is gentle and leaves my skin feeling supple and nourished without feeling stripped. It’s definitely a product that I see myself repurchasing for years to come, it also smells insanely good which is always a plus.
How can I not mention La Roche Posay? If 2013 belonged to any skincare brand, for me it is 100% LRP. Effaclar Duo gave me incredible skin without drying it out, it cleared up any blemishes and under the skin bumps and left me feeling really confident sans makeup. Similarly Serozinc has been a constant fixture in my am and pm skincare since April. I get a little antsy when I only have one backup and I can’t remember life before it. It leaves my skin feeling soothed and hydrated, in the Summer on holiday I use it midday to freshen up as well. The Toleriane Ultra is quite possible my favourite moisturiser ever. Used am and pm it soothes any redness, doesn’t exacerbate oiliness, yet deeply nourishes and hydrates. Can’t be without it!
2013 is the year that I discovered facial oils, and my favourite has to be Balance Me Radiance Oil, it does what it says on the tin and leaves skin radiant and glowing with zero shine or oiliness. It calms any blemishes and deeply nourishes. Used on its own in the evening or mixed in with some moisturiser in the morning, it dreamy.
A few other little additions to the 2013 favourites have to be Embryolisse Hydra Matt Emulsion. The perfect mattifying moisturiser that doesn’t upset my sensitive skin, used in the warmer months it works a treat at keeping shine at bay on those hot sticky city days. Skinceuticals Phyto Corrective Gel is what I turn to when my skin gets a little angry and needs an extra layer to bolt on to my Toleriane Ultra. It hydrates the skin whilst being incredibly lightweight and soothes any irritation or redness immediately. And when any unsightly spots pop up the only thing I’ll turn to is my Dr Nick Lowe Spot Gel which I continually apply until said spot has vamooshed. It’s by far the best spot treatment I’ve ever come across- it blasts the pesky pimples away without drying or irritating the skin further.
And there you have it! My favourite skincare products of 2013 – phew. Have you tried any of the above?
Stay tuned for favourite hair products coming Saturday!
