Back to Basics

Having recently been suffering from a skin reaction to both an excess of dairy and trying too many new products all at once, it was time I heeded the advice that I had tried (and failed clearly) to stick with a few months ago (full post here). It really was time to go back to basics, not quite as basic as my boyfriend wanted me to go “just water and aloe vera gel” but basic enough. Exfoliating toners are great for skin suffering from regular breakouts, but not so good on super sensitive skin that has been going through a tough time from allergic reactions and what not. So out went the Pixi Glow Tonic and all of my other serums, even my beloved Balance me Radiance Oil (although I’ll be returning to that ASAP!) and in went just two products; La Roche Posay Toleriane Dermo-Cleanser and the Toleriane Ultra (although I’m only using a baby tester sample of it at the moment), a soothing moisturiser for uber sensitive skin. I’ve been using just those two products (okay okay I may also still be using Bioderma to remove the top layer of makeup and Serozinc in between cleansing and moisturising– but they’re gentle enough!) AM and PM for just a few days and my skin is already totally cleared. The Toleriane range is one which I’ve wanted to try for a while, but due to the confusing way that the LRP website is set up, I was never sure if it was for my skin type. After doing some research (who doesn’t love Makeupalley?) I decided that the range designed for intolerant, allergic and sensitive skin was ideal for my current situation.

I could not be happier! The angry sore (and sometimes bleeding- ewww) spots have subsided and my usual, clear skin is back. Just like that! So simple. For those of you struggling with your skin if you heed the advice from my post about dairy and acne and stick to a hypoallergenic, fragrance and paraben free super simple routine you’ll see results incredible quickly.

The Dermo Cleanser is £11.50 for 200ml which is incredible good value for money and the Toleriane Ultra is £16.
