So I’ve been trialling a rather special lip balm over the past month in order to give you an honest review. The Abeille Royale Honey Lift Smile – Lip & Contour Sculpting Treatment (phew) from Guerlain is actually a few notches up than your bog standard lip balm that you pick up from Boots. It’s essentially a treatment for fine lines, smile lines and plumping around the lip area. Like the under eye, around the mouth is one of the first places to show signs of ageing, instead of going straight for the needle and the fillers, the Abeille Royale Honey Lift offers a natural antidote that helps to keep your smile in tact and youthful whilst still looking natural.
The applicator is really rather cool and instantly got me excited as it’s designed to really massage the product into (and just around the edges) of the mouth with the cooling metal design. The scent is exactly what you’d expect from the masters of fragrance at Guerlain, absolutely stunning. It’s down to the Guerlian Royale Jelly which is made directly in France and the Pure Black Bee Honey. Now, I’m quite blessed that even though I’ve just turned yet another year older I still don’t have any wrinkles to worry about. However, my lip area is something I’ve always been sensitive about as I’ve longed for a fuller pout.
After a month of using the treatment every evening before bed, my lip area feels smoother and visibly fuller – something I didn’t think I could expect from a mere product. I would say that it isn’t the most nourishing treatment, as you all know I’m a sucker for a matte lip so dry my lips out daily with liners and matte formulas, so at night I do need something a little more nourishing. I was finding that I was using the balm as a treatment and then applying a thicker balm on top around thirty or forty minutes later. Having a lip routine may seem excessive, but it only takes an extra twenty seconds out of your day, and taking precautionary measures to safeguard your smile and lip area (especially considering how en vogue full, smooth gorgeous pouts are these days) is a necessity – wrinkles or no wrinkles!
Even though my month of trial is up, I’ve still found myself reaching for it every evening to continue to see the benefits and keep my lips fuller and smoother!
