The weather is getting chillier, Autumn feels like it’s on the out and Christmas windows and lights have started popping up – it can only mean one thing, we are in the first throes of Winter. I’m a Winter baby and have always loved the early nights, cosy candles and layering but I actually detest the biting cold. There’s nothing worse than dry skin and being ill equipped in the outfit department. This is part one of two Winter Warmer posts, the next instalment will be all things beauty but for now I want to focus on some of my favourite looks for the colder months.
1. Statement Jacket
I love a statement jacket and this one from Amelia Jane London is my current favourite, it instantly transforms a rather pedestrian get up of neutral simple polo neck, skinny jeans and boots and ups the glamour ante. I also love this slightly cheaper version from Missguided here and for something more colourful this one from Topshop here is next on my wish list! Nothing beats a fantastic jacket for instantly updating an outfit.
2. Cosy Casual
This is a little less high glamour but ideal for a weekend or casual work day outfit. I love teaming different shades of neutrals to bring life to a simple look. This textured cosy coat from Zara is so snuggly, I also currently have this one here in my shopping basket. An oversized jacket/coat with a simple pair of blue denim and classic ankle boots like my pair of Isabel Marant dupes from Next. Add a pair of tortoise shades like mine which are only £19.99 and available here and you’ve got the perfect cosy casual neutral lewk.
3. XXL
In Winter I love buying my items a few sizes bigger to really languish in oversized pieces. This cardigan from Zara is actually my size exactly but the cut and fit are slouchy and oversized which I adore. I love adding a neutral scarf (mine is from Topshop available here) to compliment the slouchy effect but then to offset the rest of the look with slick and streamlined pieces like skinny jeans like mine which are so darn comfy here and a chic yet statement bag like my one from Saint Laurent available here.
