The fall beauty change up

October is here, which means it’s high time to switch up your bronzed cheeks, minimal eye makeup and peachy nude lips for something that packs a little more of a punch.

I love Autumn time, I love the crunchy burnished leaves, the smell of bonfire, winter coats and boots but most of all I love the makeup. As much as I’m partial to nudes and peaches I relish the opportunity to dust off my darker hues. My favourite foundation to wear in Autumn/Winter is this Chanel Vitalumiere Aqua one, it gives a beautiful medium coverage velevetty finish without being either too dewy or matte, it leaves skin looking airbrushed and lasts for hours.

For eyes I think that berry tones are flattering on pretty much all skin tones, I particularly love this Burgundy eyeshadow from Sisley which make my eyes a beautiful hazel with a hint of green- it really accentuates the depth of my eyes and adds a little drama, it can be worn minimally for day time or really blended and buffed in for the evening. In Summer lashes are all about being understated- long and natural, whereas I feel that in the colder months you can get away with a little more oomph. I love this new MAC 3D Extreme Dimensions mascara- it makes my lashes look false, in a good way!

However, no matter what time of year it is a little glow is always a necessity, which is why I love this illuminator by professional makeup brand Kryolan called Velvet Illusion, dabbed onto cheek bones it leaves the most gorgeous and natural glow, something I could definitely see the Victoria’s Secret makeup artist using on the girls pre-show. For lips you can dare to go a little bolder this season, and as I have an all year round olive skin tone I can’t afford to go too dark, so I would opt for a raspberry shade like this Clinique Chubby Stick Intense in Roomiest Rose, it is hydrating and lasts for hours on the lips without flaking, ideal for going in and out of central heating. Lastly, nails are a little more intense in the Autumnal months, and I change up my colour two or three times a week, flitting between berry tones and cooler blacks. Rhapsody Blue from the new Liz Earle nail polish range is gorgeous as it’s a deep navy blue which looks nearly black is the perfect shade to opt for if you want something a little darker without looking too gothic. Do you have any Autumn/Winter beauty rituals- do you switch up your makeup when the leaves start to fall?
