I recently repurchased my favourite foundation- Chanel Vitalumiere Aqua after realising that there isn’t any other foundation out there which gives such a lovely flawless finish without looking like obvious makeup. Whilst at the counter I was admiring the latest offerings of Chanel skincare when the lovely sales assistant offered me some samples- three 5ml tubes of Le Jour, La Nuit and Le Weekend. For those unfamiliar with Chanel’s latest releases let me give you a quick run down, these new products are designed to reactivate (le jour), recharge (la nuit) and renew (le weekend) skin, because they believe that your skin needs different things at different times- think of it as a skin wardrobe. Both Le Jour and La Nuit are serums which you sandwich in between your cleanse, tone and moisturise but Le Weekend is slightly different- it acts as both a serum and a moisturiser. I love how each product has been designed with specific ingredients to give your skin the best possible boost at different times of the day and week, I also love how these products don’t necessarily target anti-aging, but general skin wellbeing and purity.
Le Jour £60 : The reactivating serum contains jasmine extract and salicylic acid which gently exfoliates the skin and busts any impurities. Skin feels smooth and calm after application and works perfectly under makeup. Pores feel tighter, oiliness is kept at bay and any blemishes seem to diminish significantly.
La Nuit £60 : The recharging serum smells the most incredible, that is partly down to the frankincense extract which helps cellular renewal. The serum is also packed with hyaluronic acid which leaves skin nourished and plump. This serum works wonders on tired and sallow skin and gives a noticeable difference after just one use.
Le Weekend £72 : Without a doubt the star product, and the one which I’m the most seriously tempted to purchase a full size of. Packed with skin soothing rosewater and hero ingredient glycolic acid, this has been the only product to rectify my less than perfect skin. Lately I’ve had quite a bit of congestion around my lower cheeks, this could be down to a reaction to a specific product or my increase in my daily dairy intake (obsessed with latte’s from Paul- it’s an addiction), and using clay masks and other usual spot busting products just haven’t been working as well as one application of Le Weekend. Redness and soreness is significantly reduced and skin is left clearer, nourished and glowing. I can’t praise this product enough- if you have money to spend and are looking for a product to exfoliate, nourish, hydrate and generally make your skin look supermodel worthy then this is for you!
You can buy the trio for £172 here and reap the benefits of this rather pricey, totally indulgent and equally fabulous skincare wardrobe.
What a fantastic review! I’m putting Le weekend on my ever expanding wishlist x
Great website, really enjoy reading your reviews. However regarding “Chanel Vitalumiere Aqua after realising that there isn’t any other foundation out there which gives such a lovely flawless finish without looking like obvious makeup” – there are many! Bobbi Brown/Dior/MISSHA/Estee Lauder BB Cream, Chantecaille Future Skin & Just Skin, Kanebo Fluid Finish, La Mer Fluid Tint and the list goes on! Plus the 3rd ingreident of Vitalumiere Aqua is alcohol 🙁 Anyway I have this range and I do like it but I recommend you try (and review :)) Peter Thomas Roth “Un-wrinkle” pads – they contain Alpha, Beta & Gamma Acids (including Glycolic, Salicylic, Lactic, Linolenic Acids) and Amino Acids. Much better in my opinion plus they don’t contain alcohol which harms your skin’s protective barrier and triggers free-radical damage.
