I picked this jacket up just under two years ago in the Zara sale, I think I paid around £30.00 for it down from around £70.00. It’s tan suede (or maybe it’s faux suede, but it feels incredible convincing and doesn’t give off any static like other faux suede does) fringed jacket that zips up. Recently Saint Laurent brought out this beauty. Whilst there are obvious differences, like the slightly lighter camel colour as opposed to tan, the collar, and over all more ‘Pocahontas’ feel of the SL one, it’s got to be said – the similarities are amazing. And seeing as this Zara one is older, did SL copy Zara? Obviously not, you can see that the SL one has quite clearly been inspired by Native American dress, but it does mean that this Spring and Summer is time for the revival of the fringed jacket. Dress it down with denim cut offs and gladiator sandals for a Coachella vibe, or up with an all black slick outfit for a city shopping day.
Whilst there aren’t many current copies of the SL suede fringed jacket (expect there to be droves of them in a few months time though) there is a similar one to their leather version of the same jacket from Superdry which I have my eyes on! For £199.00 it may still be expensive but it’s better than over £2000 for the Saint Laurent one!
