Over the last few months I’ve gotten really into using palettes, carefully putting a base wash of colour all over my lid and then smoking out my eyes with a deeper colour – the end result? Polished, wearable, durable and rather nice. However, to mix things up a bit on mornings where time really is not of the essence, I’ve been opting for creamy eyeshadow formulas, formulas that you can literally just “swipe ‘n’ go”. I’ve narrowed down my new favourite ever combo, which is funny as one is possibly the cheapest eye product I own and the other is a little more luxe.
Maybelline 24 hour colour tattoo On and On the Bronze has been a staple of mine for nearly a year. And I’ve only used half the pot! Creamy at first it then settles and stays in place for hours without budging. It can even be used as an eyeshadow base it’s that long lasting. The colour is also just perfect – a pale bronze that kind of contours your eyes without you having to do any work. I’ve been enjoying smudging it all over my lids, waiting a few seconds and then going in with Charlotte Tilbury Colour Chameleon Aprhodisiac Amethyst which is the most gorgeous jewel toned eyeshadow pencil. Imagine taking an instagram photo of an amethyst and then putting the Valencia filter over it – you’ve got it. A gorgeous, smokey and creamy consistency with a hint of shimmer. It can be worn in the creases and outer corners for the day (as I do over the Maybelline) or all over the lid and under the lower lashline for a vampy night out look. It’s seriously versatile and the colour seriously does not move an inch.
I love pairing the pale bronze with the slightly sepia’d amethyst to create a lived in sexy sultry every day look, it’s easy and the colours really help to bring out my hazel eyes, they almost make them look a little green. It must be magic…
