London >> Istanbul- Travel Essentials

I flew to Istanbul yesterday for the briefest of mini breaks part business and part pleasure. I flew out solo from Heathrow and had a 3hr50min flight, which is slightly longer than I’m used to as I tend to only travel to France, Italy or Spain (with the odd trip to New York here and there). Due to having very sensitive skin at the moment I didn’t want to have an in flight pamper party (which made me rather sad tbh) so instead I layered up on my La Roche Posay Toleriane Fluid and just put a hint of concealer and Vichy Dermablend Foundation Stick only where I needed to cover old blemish scars or pigmentation. With complexion moisture levels sorted here are my top in flight entertainment and beauty essentials;

Big cosy jumper: I get incredibly chilly on aeroplanes so having a big fluffy jumper to put on n the plain makes the journey much more enjoyable. My current fave is from F&F. It rolls up perfectly in my Balenciaga so I don’t have to wear it at all times (a little hot for negotiating security).

Dry Shampoo: Does anyone else find that their hair loses volume and gets a little greasy (even if freshly washed) on flights? Well mine certainly does, having a little dry shampoo on hand can keep things fresh and voluminous come touch down. My current absolute must have is the Klorane one.

Lip Balm: My lips get incredibly sore and dry with all of the recycled air on aeroplanes, having an intense SOS lip treatment is a huge saviour. My Winter must have is Blistex Medplus. Upon application it feels really thick and moisturising and tingles a little, which I love. It instantly and deeply nourishes lips to keep them in tip top condition, perfect for doing in flight so that you can pop lipstick on just before landing on to a smooth and moisturised surface.

Perfume: Planes can smell a little iffy, having a nice fragrance on hand can really make you feel invigorated and refreshed. My current daily favourite is the Liz Earle Botanical Essence No15*– it’s smokey and woody, ideal for Winter.

Something to Brighten: To freshen up makeup apply a little nude eyeliner into the waterline mid flight to give the appearance of brighter eyes. I love this Rimmel Scandaleyes Eyeliner in Nude.

Get your hair out of the way: One of my top tips for keeping tonged hair wavy and bouncy is to always tie it in a low bun when not out. It means that when you let your hair down upon landing you’ll have the most gorgeous and fresh voluminous waves. I love these little hairbands from Invisibobble* for keeping my hair off my face and not leaving any kinks in my tresses.

Keep your mitts nourished: Hand cream is a must on long haul flights to rid that tight feeling which can often happen on planes. I love this Neal’s Yard Bee Lovely hand cream as it smells delicious and properly nourishes hands without being overly greasy.

Reading material: How can anyone get on a plane without something to read? I’ll of course be stocking up on magazines in the airport, but it’s always good to have a good book to lose yourself in. I never travel without my Kindle to keep myself occupied.

What are some of your travel essentials- what am I missing? Lots of love
