La Roche Posay Anthelios xl 50+ Summer must have.

If there’s one thing I’m constantly aware of, it is that sun worshipping increases ageing by up to 80%- 80%!!!!. And if there’s one thing you can do now, to avoid all sorts of skin problems including cancer and looking like a leather handbag by the time you’re 40, it’s investing in a good daily SPF.

On cloudier days I’m known to ‘getting away’ with just the mandatory SPF15 that’s already in my foundation, but when the sun is out, I feel much happier knowing that there is a firm barrier between the glorious sun and my precious skin- because all skin is precious and we should treat it that way. Now it’s silly to start all the anti-aging regalia at 22 (I did a long post about this here so I wont bore you again) but finding a lightweight daily SPF to put on over your moisturiser and under your make up is the best way to ensure healthier skin in the future. Now my skin can have oily days, but mostly it’s combination, so I always use a lightweight moisturiser when using SPF, something like Embryollisse hydra-matte or Dr Nick Lowe Oil Control Cream. My latest discovery is La Roche Posay Anthelios xl50+, which is the lightest, grease-free factor 50 I’ve ever come across. It has a universal tint to it, so as not to whiten you out the way some high SPF’s can, and it leaves skin looking supple and glowing, not greasy and clogged.

This works well sandwiched between a light moisturiser and foundation (I like a little Bourjois Healthy Mix Serum on top) and it lasts me all day. Of course when I’m on holiday, I’ll be re-applying every two hours. This Summer I’m going to be away more than I’m at home, so a few bottles of this, a large straw hat and some strict self discipline about staying in the shade between 12-4pm and hopefully I’ll get just bronzed enough without causing any future damage.

I can’t recommend this SPF enough, it is enriched with La Roche Posay’s thermal spring water, which makes it both non-greasy and hydrating. It blends into the skin easily and is just gorgeous.

It isn’t too expensive, it’s £10.87 available from Boots here

If there’s one thing you treat yourself to this Summer, it should definitely be a mini-investment into your skin’s health in order to have gorgeous skin later on!

Have a lovely Thursday,

Please feel free to leave comments if you already have a brilliant SPF that you’d like to recommend too!
