When I think of festive makeup, one name pops into my head- Taylor Swift. Man that girl can rock a bright red lip and sparkly gold eye year round, but Christmas is when the rest of us can attempt to emulate her look without looking like a drag act. The look is quite simple- three staples which you can play up or down depending on your preference. A gold eye is essential, and this one is cheap as chips from Maybelline 24hr Colour Tattoo Eternal Gold. For something a little more matte and a tad more luxe this Guerlain palette is just the ticket.
Next up you want a bronzed complexion (blush will look OTT with the bright lips and gold eyes) I, of course love NARS Laguna for a soft, subtle, non shimmery/non orange glow. And of course a red lip seals the deal, I love this one from Wild About Beauty’s Christmas collection. Now if you want to play it up- add a thick black liquid line (I love Rimmel or Stila) and add lashings of mascara with a hint of kohl underneath. Or to play it down just add mascara, sans eyeliner. It will look chic and less obvious. Pick and choose depending on your mood, but the Christmas parties only come around once a year so grab the gold and the red lipstick and go for it, subtle nudes and smokey eyes are soooo every other month ever!
