I did a similar post around a year ago, and as the weekend rolls around once again I thought I’d do an updated version. Today I’ll be glued to my desk editing my new video, and in between that I have a few meetings, but as soon as the clock strikes 6pm I’ll be dashing out the door to go to see Beyonce at the o2 (OMG). Anyway, I thought I’d share my tips on how to look party ready without having to go home and re-do your whole makeup, and without having the lug around your entire makeup collection.
I find that a good base is an absolute necessity and the L’Oreal True Match Foundation is perfect for leaving a matte yet radiant finish without any dew or glow which can just look plain greasy by the end of the working day. It also has no SPF in it which means you wont get any of that dreaded ghostly flashback in your instagram photos later on in the evening. However, if you have an annoyingly oily t zone (like me) then you may need a little extra help staying perfectly matte throughout the day, Rimmel Stay Matte powder is perfect for touch ups and leaves a flawless matte finish without looking all powdery and cakey on the skin.
Next up, two easy products to throw in your makeup bag are the L’Oreal Smoky Velours Noir palette, which creates foolproof sexy smokey eyes in seconds, and the L’Oreal Super Liner Blockbuster for adding extra drama to the eyes. These can be built up to create your chosen level of accentuation, meaning you can use the lighter shades for the morning and then add the black smokier shades before you leave work.
To stay looking peachy fresh all day, Daniel Sandler Watercolour Blush Charm is incredible, it’s long lasting and leaves a gorgeous sheen on your cheeks, acting as both a blush and highlighter in one. Apply once in the morning with a brush, and then reapply in the late afternoon by just dabbing a little product on to the apples of your cheeks with your fingers and blend upwards. The lasting power of this will keep you looking gorgeous all night long, but never flushed or as if you’ve just had to run for the tube (like other blushers are guilty of!).
Lastly lips, I like going for something neutral and glossy with a dark smokey eye, Burberry Lip Mist Copper 202 leaves the most gorgeous non sticky sheen whilst making your lips look far plumper then they actually are, the Paul & Joe Dual ended Liner Cedar 02 helps to further accentuate your natural lips, leaving you with a fuller looking pout – totally dance floor worthy.
So there you have it, my mostly drugstore guide to staying fresh from desk to dance floor. What are your weekend plans?
