After reading over Emily Weiss’ updated Top Shelf I realised that I hadn’t updated you with my current skincare hair care routines in forever. I thought I’d split them up though to keep it interesting – so here goes:
My skin has been going through a weird phase, whereby there aren’t any specific breakouts but it’s gone super oily in the t-zone and little bumps have appeared. I’m combatting this by going back to basics and using La Roche Posay Toleriane Dermo Cleanser in the mornings as it is fragrance free and is always my go-to when my skin feels a little overwhelmed, I use it in conjunction with the LRP Toleriane Ultra moisturiser as well and sandwich in a good spritz of the hydrating La Roche Posay Serozinc in Between. If you were to ask me for my top skincare brands I’d say that Environ, La Roche Posay, REN and Sunday Riley would be my top picks.
In the evenings I’ve become so lazy and just stick with the Body Shop Chamomile Cleansing Oil to rid my face of the layers of makeup/powder and general city dirt and grime. I pump one to two pumps into the palm of my hand and then massage into the skin – really working it in and on to my eyes as well – it is magic at dissolving even the most stubborn of eye makeup. I then remove using a warm flannel, I do this twice. I take my evening toning stage quite seriously and it really depends on what my skin is after. If it feels bumpy and clogged then I’ll swipe a cotton disc of the Clarins Gentle Exfoliating Toner on all over, if it’s feeling sensitive then I’ll simply use Serozinc again. I’ll then prescribe my skin again based on what it needs, with either the Sunday Riley Good Genes, Sunday Riley Luna Night Sleeping Oil or simply just the Toleriane moisturiser again, I love how it sinks in so quickly and isn’t at all greasy.
There’s only two masks that I’m using at the moment and funnily enough they’re the first two face masks that I ever tried when I first became a fully fledged beauty junkie – the Origins Drink Up Overnight Mask and the Origins Clear Improvement Clay Mask. I think they’re fantastic starter masks and really deliver wonderful results. I go through stages with the Origins Overnight Mask of simply using it as my evening moisturiser – I love it that much – it just calms any redness or breakouts, smells heavenly and leaves the skin feeling so smooth and supple. The Clear Improvements draws all the impurities and greasiness out of the skin to leave a lovely refreshed complexion, you could even use it in the morning to get rid of excess oil before makeup application.
So there you have it, my current skincare arsenal. Let me know if there are any products that you can’t live without!
Hi Tijan,
I really liked your skincare routine. I am French so obviously I totally agree with you, La Roche Posay is such a good skincare brand ! Have you ever tried Avène products ?
I would say that the products I can’t live without are the DHC cleansing oil (by the way you really should try it !) and rose water (especially she Sanoflore one which I keep purchasing again and again).
Love from France xx
