Best toner ever?

clarins toner

As an avid reader of Caroline Hirons’ ‘Beauty Mouth’ blog I recently discovered that the most searched for review on her site was for Clarins Gentle Exfoliator Brightening Toner. Although it contains AHA’s and the bottle says to only use a few times a week, Caroline suggests using it as regularly as you please as it’s actually very gentle (as the name suggests!) and that Clarins only say things like that to stick within EU guidelines.

So it was then that I mentioned it to my mum. As you may have noticed I’m a bit of a skincare geek, I love taking the time every evening to do a proper routine. My morning routine is quicker but still thorough. Now, whilst I’ve only recently introduced a toner into my routine (Dermalogica Multi-Active Toner) I felt like I needed something that worked a little harder. The Dermalogica toner is absolutely lovely, but it’s more of a refreshing spray than a hard working, pigmentation-clearing, blemish-fighting and all around hero product.

So after casually mentioning it, I found that on my birthday my mum and sister had bought me a massive Russian doll printed makeup bag filled to the brim of all sorts of exciting beauty products and the toner was one of them! I was overly excited to try it out.

Now I’ve only been using it for two days (morning and night) but my skin reacts quite quickly to any products it doesn’t like (Sisley Express Flower Gel, Nude mask, Environ sebutone) and my skin has had no adverse reactions to this quite honestly heavenly smelling product. Instead my skin feels exfoliated- not in a stingy blotchy way, but fresh, glowing and re-generated. I feel like my make-up (I wear Chantecaille tinted moisturiser daily and Chanel Aqua Vitalumiere for evenings and long days out) goes on smoother. So far so amazing. I’ll do a follow up review in around six weeks!
