I’ve been waiting for the weather to get a little more seasonal before writing this post and it looks like Autumn is now well and truly here! Last October whilst in Selfridges I fell head over heels in love with a Sisley eyeshadow in the shade Burgundy. It made my hazel coloured eyes look almost green and was absolutely perfect for the Autumn and Winter months. It’s been a fair while since I last wore it and I couldn’t be more excited to whip it out again and smudge all over my lid with a simple flick of black liquid liner and masses of black mascara.
Since last year burgundy eyeshadows have become a big deal with Pat McGrath giving girls at the Gucci AW13 pomegranate/burgundy smokey eyes, and it wasn’t long before Maybelline brought out its own ode to the trend in the form of the much loved Colour Tattoo 24hr creamy eyeshadows. Pomegranate has more red than purple compared to the Sisley eyeshadow, and a fair bit more shimmer so I’d say it was more of an evening product. Simply smudge all over the lid- with extra on the outer corners, and then get a q-tip and smudge some under the lash line to create a mesmerising alluring Autumnal look. There are plenty of other berry tones in between with Burberry bringing out a gorgeous shade called Mulberry as well. What I love about this beauty trend is just how versatile it is, it works on fair blondes just as well as it does on my olive colouring and is so flattering. Who said Autumn was just about berry coloured nails hey?
The Sisley Phyto Ombre Eclat in Burgundy is a little pricey at £28, but like I said I’ve had mine for a year and it looks brand new! You can buy it here.
The Maybelline Colour Tattoo 24hr in Metallic Pomegranate is a little lighter on the pocket at just £4.99. You can buy it here.
