Post illness skin SOS

I’ve recently recovered from a three day infection which turned into an illness. It was not pleasant and I felt incredibly weak. Throughout those days I binged on chocolate digestives (my ultimate comfort food) and cranberry juice (without realising I  had bought the sweetened kind). Resulting in dry, dull and incredibly spotty skin. Yay.

When I woke up yesterday finally feeling myself (thank you modern medicine and antibiotics) I gasped when I caught sight of my blotchy complexion. Makeup sorted me out for the day, but last night I got to work on tackling my skin and giving myself a ‘post illness facial’. I used the Skinceuticals Clay Masque all over to decongest and calm, my skin was visibly less red and calmer straight away. I then felt that my skin needed a boost of radiance and hydration so I went in with an oldie but a goodie – Origins Drink Up Overnight Mask – not only does this plump and hydrate the skin, but I personally find that it calms any redness and blemishes too. I then popped on a bit of Dr Nick Lowe Spot Gel on the extra angry looking under the skin bumps. I downed a green juice as well for good measures – I love The Good Life Drink Your Salad for a real burst of goodness and greens. I woke up this morning with visibly clearer, calmer and smoother skin. This little Skin care SOS kit might have to be whipped out on a weekly basis instead of relegated to post illness skin crapness!
